Not Forgotten

(I've been meaning to post this for a whole month and am just now getting around to it...)
So for my birthday back in August, I mentioned to Jason that I wanted to go to a Weezer concert. (Weezer being a favorite band of mine from back in the day...and still a fave) And what do you know, that ended up being my birthday present! The concert wasn't till the first part of October, but just having the tickets in hand was a perfect gift! It seemed like it couldn't get here fast enough.

Concert day arrives, and I told Jason that we had to hit all my old "concert stops" on the way. My friend Anna and I used to go to alot of concerts back in the day...when we were single and had money of course...and we used to go eat at Red Robin before the big show.

Jason had never had the Red Robin experience, and I hadn't been there in probably 5 years or so. So we ate there, and it was excellent.

After an early dinner, we made our way to the concert. We used to park at a movie theater across the street from the E-Center for free, but guess what!! Not free anymore. They wanted to charge...get this...$20 bucks!! Even more than the event center itsself was charging. So we parked down the street at the Baymont hotel (shhh....i think that was probably not legal) and hoofed it.

The concert was awesome as expected, and we both rekindled our love for the Weez. Jason's last time seeing them in concert was back in like '96 or so when they opened for No Doubt. I went to the same concert in Utah. He in Illinois. How cool is that!?

After the concert, we had to stop at Slim Olsens' in Bountiful for a drink to keep us awake for the long drive home. Slim's being another "concert stop." The lady at the counter noticed my husband was wearing a North Logan Fire Department shirt, and started asking all sorts of questions and then got off on a big long story about a fire by her house. We kept trying to move closer toward the door so she'd get the hint that we were wanting to leave. She got no such hint. It was like 11:30pm, and we still had a good hour drive home. So finally we just had to make a break for it and kind of cut her off. Politely of course. I'm sure she was just bored and lonely working a gas station counter at midnight.

To make a long story short, it was an awesome night. My concert days may be coming to an end, but the occasional one here and there still keeps me "young." Plus I got Jason all to myself for like 9 hours!! Unheard of!

Let us all pay homage to the WEEZ!!

I'm sooooo jealous! Still kicking myself for not going to see them at DV8 back in like '97 or '98!

How fun, Nellie! I miss our tradition of going to R.R. before & then to Slim Olsen's after. Those were some fun times! I am so glad that Jason surprised you with those tickets - that's totally a perfect gift! That just sounds like a great birthday!
