My new best friend

Yes...I have a new best friend. It takes alot for me to venture out of my comfort zone, try new things, etc...

But I have to say, the bond here was intantanious.

I'd like you all to meet my new best friend.

And don't you DARE try to take it away from me!! You might lose a hand...maybe two.
These are like the best things in the world. I bought a gigantic tub of them at Sam's on Friday...and it is almost empty already!! This is not a good thing.

More old-fashioned than I thought

Superior

Take the test!

This actually surprised me quite a bit. I thought for sure I wouldn't make a good 1930's wifey. Maybe I did it wrong...haha.

At least I can say I am Superior at something!! Yay!!

An Adventure

This morning, as I was walking out of my house to go to work, I grabbed Makayla's favorite blanky.

We can't leave home without it. Now, I can be a real complete and total airhead alot of the time. It's nothing new. So I put all my stuff in the car, and head to work. Stopped at Burger King on the way, since it was almost lunchtime anyway. Then proceeded to head to work. Well about two hours later, I realized the blanket was GONE! Nowhere. Vanished into thin air. I totally panicked.
1) because it's Makayla's favorite blanket, and
2) it's my favorite blanket
and 3)my good friend Cara made it and spent alot of time on it.

I cried.
Then thought...I bet it just fell off the roof of the car in our parking lot at home. So I drove ALL the way back, the way I came, looking all along Main Street the entire way, in case it blew off somewhere. No blanket. I drove down Main Street THREE times. And cried again.
Crying over a little blanket you might ask?

Yes. I did.

Then I thought...wait a second. I didn't check Burger King. So I drove into BK, looked all around and in the drive through...nothing. So I decided to just go in and check to see if it had by any chance been turned in. The odds of it making it to BK from our house are astronomical. It's like 8 blocks. But sure enough...I asked, and they said..is it kinda small, and has rounded edges? YAY!! That's it!! Then they warned me that it was quite dirty...it had been run over. I didn't even care. I just wanted it back.
So i went home and scrubbed the heck out of it forever with some Oxi-Clean, and it is now soaking. Any tips on what else I can do to get out parking lot/tire crap would be appreciated.
But we have the precious blanket back. And all is well in the world.

Summerfest

Summerfest is always a fun thing. Gives us a chance to get out in the nice* weather...see all of the incredibly talented people, and wish i was among them. Buy some yummy food, of course a funnel cake or two. Oh the funnel cakes...In our case...two. And also maybe buy something cool. So we walked all through summerfest, which was mostly artists this year as apposed to other years. And i still had my $20 bucks in my pocket. I was a little sad. I wanted something cool. BUT then we realized we had completely missed one whole big long line of booths! Yay! So we walked down and like the second one we came to was this tiny booth and the guys name was Kevin Eslinger. Right off the bat, me and Jason saw this Abraham Lincoln drawing and knew we had to have it.

Jason-"How much for Abe?"

Kevin E.- "$10"

Jason--(mouth hanging open..."really? I'll take it."

So we went home with this cool Abe Lincoln.

Then the next day after looking on his website, I decided I wanted to go back and get maybe one or two more.

Nellie--"Do you have any Beatles portraits?"

Kevin--"Beatles as in the Beatles?"

Nellie--(um...hello...yes.) "yeah"

Kevin-"I might have something in here I did for Wall Street Journal. Let me check. Yeah, here you go. It's not on the best paper, and it's only John...$2 bucks if you want it."
Nellie--(holy crap...only $2 bucks!!!) YEAH! I'll take it. And how much for these other 2?"
Kevin--"$10 for the 2 of them."

So we walked away happy, bewildered people. His stuff was SO cool, and SO cheap! I forgot to take a picture of Abe. I'll try and remember to take one later. It's the coolest. But here are the others we got.
I'm trying to contact him to get the other 3 Beatles. Gotta have a complete set right?

Father's Day

This is late, I know. But our internet connection at home was in a funk over the weekend. Happy Father's Day to all dads out there, and especially my husband Jason! I couldn't have asked for a better man. He is such an awesome father, and Makayla lights up when she sees him after a long day with mom. She LOVES when he sings his songs to her. Mom loves it too. It's the cutest thing ever.
So for Father's Day, we went over to my parents house, which is a pretty usual Sunday activity. We celebrated with my mom, and Gordon and Kristi. My dad is in Europe for 2 weeks. We got to shout a happy father's day over the speaker phone and talk to him for about 2 minutes. The good thing about him not getting home for 2 weeks is that we can procrastinate even that much longer trying to figure out what to get him!! He's hard to shop for. And we got him a Borders gift card for his b-day...so we need a new fresh idea.
Here's something that will make you laugh. Me and Makayla decided to go have some fun in the photo booth at K-mart...yes, its still there, and yes it still works. It was part of Jason's Father's Day gift. So here's the result...and go ahead and laugh...i about died laughing right there in the k-mart. The flash surprised her every time.

Kinda hard to tell, but her eyes are gigantic and look almost alien-like in every single picture. You can see it better on our Picasa page.

Slideshow Yo!

Hey ya'll...check out my new slide show down at the bottom of my page! I tried to make it fit on the right side, but it was cutting off the whole right half. So if one of you smarties out there reading this knows how to fix that problem-o, let me know! (also not sure if i will keep the music...one song gets a little old after a while. But for now, i like it.)

3. WHO PROPOSED AND HOW? Jason--I didn't know he had gotten the ring yet, and we went for a walk...we were sitting on the bench up at the temple, and he had this old couple play along. They came and asked if they could take a poloroid of us, to test angles for their daughter's wedding, and they'd let us keep a pic. So they took a couple, and gave us one of them, and when it developed, there was a huge sheet behind us that said "Will you marry me?" and then jason got down on one knee...

4. HOW LONG WERE YOU ENGAGED? 4 months

Help me NOT eat everything in sight

This was my little prayer i said in my head today. "Help me not eat everything in sight." We went grocery shopping the other day, and it's never a good idea to go when you or your spouse is hungry. Never. Jason ended up convincing me we needed all kinds of goodies we don't normally get. Maybe because we haven't gone grocery shopping in a long long time. That might be part of the reason. So let's see...
Golden Oreo's...which are the devil...
Doritos....always delicious
Cran-Grape Juice....(i always end up drinking it all by myself)
Peanut Butter Crackers....mmmm
etc....

I don't normally eat like this. It's depressing. I need a pick-me-up I think. Hmmmm....Spa Day perhaps? I think that might do it!! And maybe a trip to the salon for a quick hair fix. Now I just need to add like 4 hours to my day to fit all of that in. Any ideas?

And someone please come to my house and eat all of my food!
