Family Reunion

This weekend we went up Logan canyon to our annual Israelsen family reunion at the cabin. It's always so fun to go and visit with cousins, some I hadn't seen for more than 6 years!

And I guess since I still can't organize my pics in the right order, we'll start off with a pic of our front living room that is finally all done. A little bit of a tight squeeze with our monster big couches, but we made it work.

And on to reunion fun. Here's Brooklyn eating some of Makayla's candy...

And making noises...
...and being cute.

Showing dad her candy loot from the candy grab.
The candy grab...insanity.
This was one of two tables completely full of candy!!

And the candy cannon, always a favorite. Who doesn't like watching candy shoot out of a big cannon and hearing the big loud BOOM!
I don't know if we somehow missed the other events like the fishpond and the craft/games or if they just didn't happen this year. Kind of a bummer. But we still had an awesome time!
I wish I had taken pictures of the Logan River...it's higher than I have ever seen it in my 18 years living here. In the back yard of Glen's cabin the water comes within a few feet of the cabin. And it's a pretty big yard. The river is literally flowing through it. It's crazy!! And along the road up the canyon the river is within inches of coming onto the roadway. I really should have taken pics. Maybe this next weekend. We are tentatively planning a Bear Lake trip. So we'll see if it's still as high then.

A Place to Call Home

The last 2 weeks have been a little chaotic around here. With all sorts of little surprises with the new house, unpacking, moving things around, cleaning and cleaning and cleaning...I haven't had much free time. But here's a little peak at what we've been up to.

And it appears my pictures have loaded in backwards order...so we'll start with Makayla's dance class. She is in LOVE with it. The pictures are kind of crummy cause I was taking it through a window, and trying not to look like the geeky mom taking a million pics of her kid. Especially since no one else was taking any pictures...hello!? It was super cute, I don't see why they weren't.
That's Makayla on the left. She's the youngest in the class by about a year. They didn't have enough preschoolers for her class, so they put her in with the older kids, and she keeps up great!

Kind of a dark one, but it's my fave.

Getting ready!
And here's some house pics. This is the before of the living room, with all the previous owners stuff still in here.
I painted the bottom part a nice chocolate brown. Now we have furniture and pictures and everything in here, but I haven't taken pics yet.
This is the AFTER pic of the downstairs. We got some couches and a rug. We LOVE it, plus it's the coolest room in the house, since we don't have AC.
This is the before pic.
This is Jason in the middle of painting our bedroom. I don't remember what he was laughing at. Probably me being a picture nerd.
The room was so dark. It was kind of cool, red marbled look, but just not our taste. Plus they did a horrible job and there was red paint all over the crown moldings and baseboards. So we did a nice light green and still need to go over the trim. But it looks SO much better already.
This was the before.
There you have it. Jason is painting the garage, which was just drywall and looked icky. But that's boring and driving me nuts, so I didn't take any pics of that...:)
We still have boxes everywhere and some in storage...we'll be unpacking for probably the next two months the rate we're going...ugh.
And now, I'm off to watch Toy Story 3 with Makayla instead of unpack another box...see what I mean? I just can't bring myself to do it.

At The Zoo

With only one really good sunny day last week, we took advantage and went down to Hogle Zoo with Ashley. We had a blast! Now, the zoo isn't really anything that great, it has a couple cool things, but we like to go to St. Louis zoo when we go visit Jason's fam, and nothing really compares to that. Plus, that one is free! But this is still pretty fun to go spend a day.

They are both getting so big. I was still pretty nervous just sitting Brookie there, but Makayla played her big sister role well, and held her pretty good.

Towards the end of the day she started to get tired, so she got a lift from Daddy. Even though it was like 80 degrees and it probably didn't feel that great having a kid on your shoulders when it's that hot.

Brooklyn just chilled in her stroller and had a good time.
This was what I wanted to do...lay in a pool.
My faves.

My other faves!!
The kiddos were so worn out by the end of the day, they snoozed all the way home, which is rare. Next time, it's slumber party with aunt Ash!! Makayla talks about it alot!! She sure loves her aunt Ashley.

A Day in the Sun

We have been soaking up the sun the last 2 days. It has definitely NOT felt like June around here. We have sun for most of the day, then in the late afternoon it gets FREEZING!! What is up with that!?
So while the sun is out and hot, we are out playing!

We went down to Willow Park for the annual Cache School district cookout. And the sun was out for about 15 minutes, and then it got SO COLD...so we only stayed about 40 minutes, then left.
Swinging!! They both loved it!

Then we played outside in my parents front yard the next day.

Bike riding!! Makayla has mastered the big wheel. For the longest time she couldn't reach the pedals! Now she's cruising all over the place!

Bring on SUMMER!!!
