So there I was...at the Doctor's office, having an ingrown toenail cut out. Lovely I know. Let me tell ya, it was seriously so painful. So I'm sitting on the exam table, with my foot up, and there are two little nurse ladies over there getting needles out...yikes. So I'm asking them all sorts of questions about the numbing stuff.
ME: so is this going to hurt really bad?
NURSES: um, yeah, I've been told it's pretty painful...
ME: (greeeaaattt)
So they give me this stress ball to squeeze and tell me to take deep breaths. So I'm breathing.
They wrap a rubber band around my toe..., and tell me its to keep the anesthetic in longer. It's lovely.
NURSES: You'll feel a sharp poke and then quite a bit of burning.
ME: :(
I'm deffinitely feeling a burn...and then my toes is completely numb...the strangest feeling ever.
Then the doctor comes in, and explains things to me. Tells me I will feel alot of pressure, but there shouldn't be any pain with it.
ME: (watching)
DOC: This is where I'd turn away if I were you.
So I look the other way, till the nail is out. No big deal, totally not as bad as I was expecting. They wrap me up, and tell me I'm good to go. So I sit up, grab my sandal, and my purse off the chair, and walk out to the front office to pay. I hand my card to the lady, and I was feeling a little dizzy...but thought it would pass, like when you stand up too fast. I'm waiting for her to be done with my card (she's taking forever.) And all the sudden my body totally freaked out....
ME: I'm feeling a little dizzzzz......
SOMEONE ACROSS THE ROOM: Someone catch her!!!
A few minutes later....
ME: (very confused) what happened?
NURSE: you turned white as a sheet and passed out.
ME: I did what??
The walked me back to the table and made me lay down and drink some water and gave me a sucker...(seemed kinda random, and I hate suckers...but I did it anyway).
A few minutes later, I sat up and said, ok, I think I'm good to go. The nurse informed me I was still pale as could be, so she made me lay back down. All in all, I had to stay an extra 40 minutes, till I could walk out. And even then they had someone walk me to my car.
It was so much fun. I would have posted really disgusting oozy pictures of my toe, but I will spare you all. Thank me later. It's now healing lovely. A little black and blue, but it has stopped oozing finally. Maybe I'll take a pic in a few days.
And let me tell ya, as soon as that anesthetic wore off, the pain was seriously worse than child birth. I kid you not. It was like 40 million bee stings all throbbing and stinging and hurting....
But now I can wear normal shoes again!!

Oh my gosh. From the title of this post I was expecting it to be a cute story about Makayla crawling or something. Haha.
That is seriously a horrible story. My toes hurt now.
Glad it's getting better though!
wow nell, i've never passed out before. that's amazing. i'm sorry they made you stay that long. i would have just told them i'd walk out with my head between my knees..haha.
I'm glad you spared us the oozing toe. Although my imagination has probably come up with something worse anyway!
That's a funny story - sorry that it happened to you though. We've had our share of patients come in our office do the same thing.
I've tried to learn my lesson & let the patient slowing sit up, stand up, & I walk them to the front. But sometimes it still happens.
Well, glad that you're okay & your toe is better!
Nellie,
I found your blog!!! I must say I thought from your title that after you asked the nurses if it would hurt you got up and bolted for the door! That is what I would have done! Good for you for being brave and sticking it out! I hate toes! Mine will be the death of me! Which brings me to your next post.... I have HUGE feet! I can't ever wear cute shoes, as you've probably noticed. hee hee. Not only are they HUGE, they're hideous to boot! Man I got the short end of the stick! But, I do love waxing... I have a waxing kit, (like what they use at salons) and I think what I have is a lot gentler on skin than other stuff I've bought at the store. If you ever want to try it again... come over and we can have a waxing party! ;)
I found you! I saw the link to your blog from Anna's! This site is to cute! What a terrible day this day was though, hu? I passed out once while donating blood-- I was shakey for hours afterward. Not cool. Its so good to see you again! I have a blogspot site, but honestly, I can't figure this thing out either. I use multiply more, but I still get on here to see everyone else's! AND MAKAYLA IS GORGEOUS! How old is she now? It has been way too long. Here's to friends!
i want to pass out just reading this....I'm so sorry you had to go through this!! ouch!
but, I am a little glad to hear you passed out...no offense. It makes me feel not so strange. I cannot even count the amount of times I've passed out after I've been in to the DR. shots used to do it to me EVERY SINGLE TIME.....my body is finally getting used to it....so embarassing!
